Help us celebrate Social Emotional Learning!

The fifth annual International Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day is March 3, 2025, kicking off SEL Week through March 8! SEL Day and SEL Week are an opportunity to collectively spread the word about the importance and impact of social emotional learningWorking together, we

can raise awareness for SEL, share SEL best practices, and more! We welcome you to explore the many resources available on the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Mental Health Well Being web page

Each day during SEL Week visit a different topic on this page and discover a new resource-new guidelines and highlights, data collection and reporting, funding opportunities, grants, and legislation, resources for educators, resources for families and caregivers or SEL and Health Standards.

Educating students to be healthy, strong, critical thinkers is most successful when we address students’ mental health and social-emotional needs. Healthier students feel connected to their community and are more likely to succeed.

CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning) defines social and emotional learning as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic school-family-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that feature trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities.

More information about SEL Day

SEL Day is a global, grassroots campaign for social-emotional learning to support children’s academic recovery, mental health, and well-being. Since its inception in 2020, #SELday has reached over 40 million views.

In 2024, over 5,000 SEL champions representing all 50 U.S. states and 73 countries made 6,000 commitments to showcase, promote, advocate, and support SEL. Advocacy efforts have resulted in SEL Day proclamations in ten states, a letter of support from the White House, and a bipartisan resolution for SEL Week introduced in the Senate.
