NBC will broadcast coverage of the ladies and men's free skates from 2-4 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, Nov. 25. Universal Sports will provide additional coverage of the singles,
pairs and dance events throughout the weekend. Terry Gannon, Michael Weiss and Tara Lipinski make up NBC's announce team.
Icenetwork.com will provide news, photos and more from the event. On-demand video of NHK Trophy will be available to Season Pass subscribers approximately seven days following the conclusion of the event.
Ladies
Agnes Zawadzki looks for her second career Grand Prix medal after winning bronze two weeks ago at Rostelecom Cup. The 2012 U.S. bronze medalist won her first international title at the 2012 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic in September. Mirai Nagasu, who opened her season with respective third and fourth place finishes at Finlandia Trophy and Cup of China, was invited to compete at NHK Trophy earlier this month. Two-time U.S. champion Alissa Czisny withdrew from the event while she continues to recover from June hip surgery.
Men
Adam Rippon is the 2012 U.S. silver medalist. He opened the competitive season with a fourth-place showing at Cup of China. Richard Dornbush, the 2011 U.S. silver medalist, placed second at Finlandia Trophy before competing at Rostelecom Cup in early November. Ross Miner skates for the third time this season after winning bronze at the U.S. International Classic and placing fifth at Skate Canada.
Pairs
Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir head to Japan having recently won their first international gold medal at Ice Challenge. They opened the season with a fifth-place showing at Skate America. Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim announced their partnership in April and already have gold medals from Cup of Nice and the 2013 Midwestern Sectional Championships to their credit. Also newly paired, Lindsay Davis and Mark Ladwig compete for the third time this season. They skated at the U.S. International Classic and Skate Canada.
Ice dancing
Meryl Davis and Charlie White, four-time reigning U.S. champions, look for their 11th straight Grand Prix Series gold medal dating back to 2009. They are 2011 World champions, 2010 Olympic silver medalists and three-time reigning Grand Prix Final champions. Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani return to the ice after a fourth-place finish at Rostelecom Cup. Shibutani and Shibutani are the two-time reigning U.S. silver medalists and 2011 World bronze medalists. Both teams train under coach Marina Zoueva in Canton, Mich.
The Grand Prix Series, now in its 18th season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2012 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 6-9, in Sochi, Russia, home of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Athletes will compete for a total of more than $1.35 million in prize money throughout the series.
