Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman Travel to India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic

Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy R. Sherman is traveling to New Delhi, Astana, and Bishkek beginning November 24, 2012.
In New Delhi, India, Under Secretary Sherman will meet with government officials and civil society to discuss the strategic partnership between the United States and India. In her meetings with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, and other Indian officials, she will continue our consultations on areas of bilateral concern, including coordination on regional issues, counter-terrorism cooperation and deepening security and economic ties.
In Astana, Kazakhstan, the Under Secretary will deliver remarks at Eurasian University on U.S. support for the New Silk Road vision, as well as meet with Kazakh officials to affirm our strategic partnership with the Republic of Kazakhstan and underscore the importance we place on the government’s stated commitment to greater openness and democracy.

In Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, the Under Secretary will meet with meet with government officials and parliamentarians, as well as representatives from civil society groups focused on democracy and good governance.
