2nd Annual Chili & Chowder Cook Off


Think Your Chili, Chowder or Hearty Bean Soup Recipe Is Terrific? Prove It!
Amherst, New Hampshire - The Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce and Opportunity Networks invite you to participate in our Second Annual Chili & Chowder Cook Off which will be held Sunday, January 27th from noon to 4 p.m. at the Amherst Business Center Located at 105 Route 101A.

Whether you are a professional chef in one of our local restaurants or an individual with a knack for cooking, get a chance to showcase your specialty!  Judges from the food industry will select a winner in each category in both the  Professional and the Amateur Categories for the Best Chili and Best Chowder.  The general public will also vote for the “People’s Choice” award!  Professional Participants should be prepared to provide
2 oz. samples for approximately 350 and Amateurs should bring a large Crockpot of their entry. Bring your entry hot and ready to serve. All paper products will be provided.  Entry fee is $50 for commercial chefs or restaurants, $20 for amateurs.

Don’t want to cook, but like to eat? Then this event is right up your alley! The Chili Chowder Cook Off was enjoyed by a large crowd last year, and is sure to be Winter’s Culinary Highlight once again! This event not only features some of the best chili and chowder cooks around, but families will also be entertained with Live Music, and a Beer Garden sponsored by Bellavance Beverage. A Baked Goods Sale will be sponsored by the Amherst Junior Women’s Club as well. The event is sponsored by Holt McBriarty Insurance, Hesser College,  and  Mike Bonacorsi, CFP.

The cost is $10 per adult, $8 per senior, and $5 per child (ages 12 and under) to taste all the entries, with a nominal charge for beer and baked goods. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the Chamber Office at 673-4360! It is the weekend prior to the Superbowl, so grab your friends and family and join us for a Great Day for a Great Cause!

All proceeds from this event will benefit Opportunity Networks, a non profit organization that provides meaningful employment and training to individuals living with acquired and developmental disabilities in our community, and the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Opportunity Networks is a 501c(3) charity that also provides life skills and social opportunities for their disabled clients.
