NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer
men's soccer team soared to a 14-0 victory over Green Mountain College
in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Saturday afternoon.
The
Chargers improve to 9-5 overall with their sixth straight victory and
go to 7-0 in the conference. The team will travel to Castleton on
Tuesday for a pivotal NAC contest under the lights at 6:30 p.m. Green
Mountain drops to 1-13 overall and 0-6 in the NAC. The Eagles will
conclude the regular season with three straight home matches beginning
on Tuesday against Lyndon at 3:30 p.m.
The reigning NSCAA Division III National Player of the Week, sophomore Denali Sexton
(Barrington, R.I.), tied the Colby-Sawyer single game record for goals
with four, for the second time this season. He added an assist to set a
new single season record for assists with 13. He moved into second place
in career assists with 19, third place in career goals with 27 and
second in career points with 73 passing current assistant coach Alex Ortega '15.
Sophomore Zach Elmore (Berlin, Vt.) added his second hat trick of the season, while junior Andrew Clothier (Matamata, New Zealand) had seven points on two goals and three assists.
Sophomore Eddie Garcia (Damascus, Md.) finished with a goal and three assists.
Freshman Anthony Romeo (Waterford, N.Y.) notched his first collegiate tally and added an assist.
Freshman James McCleery (Oxford, Mass.), freshman Bryce Schultz (Durham, N.H.), freshman Noah Camelo (Marblehead, Mass.) added a goal apiece.
Freshman Shane Sacks
(Huntington Station, N.Y.) made one stop to earn his second clean
sheet. Green Mountain goalie Samuel Nichols (Brunswick, Maine) had five
saves in the loss.
