Keene State Women's Lacrosse Routs Colby-Sawyer For First Win

KEENE, N.H.-- Kaitlin Nolan and Jenna Bellano each notched three goals as the Keene State College women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season with a 15-5 triumph over Colby-Sawyer College at Owl Athletic Complex on Tuesday night.

The Series
  • Keene State has won the last six meetings between the teams, and leads 8-6. 
Tale of the Tape
  • Keene State dominated the game, outshooting the Chargers 37-9.  Nolan finished with three goals and three assists, while Bellano had one assist to go with her hat-trick.
  • Tori Weinstock chipped in with two goals and three assists, and the Owls also got two goals each from Kelly Chadnick and Jackie Planchett.  Taylor Graf set up four goals.
  • Anna O'Brien was called upon to make just a pair of saves.   Keene State was also outstanding in the circle, winning 16 draw controls, led by Samantha Ballard who won 10.


First Half Highlights
  • Keene State scored the first eight goals of the game and never looked back.  Weinstock had a hand in the first three for KSC, scoring the opener on a free position shot, then setting up Nolan for a 2-0 lead at the 25:22 mark.  Nolan returned the favor two minutes later.
  • Weinstock and Nolan hooked up again after Bellano had scored to make it 5-0, and Chadnick got in on the action with a pair.  Bellano then set up Planchett to make it 8-0.
  • Nicole Lavigne scored two for Colby-Sawyer to get the Chargers within six, but the Owls closed out the half with goals from Meghan Molloy, Planchett, and Samantha Ballard to lead 11-2 at halftime.
Second Half Highlights
  • The Owls kept pouring it on in the second half, scoring four straight to put the game out of reach.
  • Bellano netted twice, the second on an assist from Graf, who then set up Ballard and Nolan for a 15-2 lead.
  • Sara Berry, Lavigne, and Carli Chiodo all scored for Colby-Sawyer as the game wore down, but the Chargers would not get closer.
