HANOVER, N.H. – No. 38 Dartmouth completed the weekend sweep with a 4-0 victory over Penn at the Boss Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Big Green improved to 15-8 and 3-1 in Ivy League action, while the Quakers fell to 7-13 and 2-2.

“It was nice to pick up where we left off in terms of doubles from yesterday,” head coach Chris Drake said. “We played with energy and made good decisions at all three positions in doubles for the second day in a row.

“In singles, we put a ton of pressure on Penn by winning five of the six first sets,” Drake continued.

“As good teams do, Penn mounted a comeback in the second sets, but I am really happy that we were able to finish three of the matches in straight sets. What a tremendous weekend of crowd support at Boss/Gordon. The crowd really got behind us and let themselves be heard.”

Dartmouth came out aggressively and won the first point following a 6-0 win by the 63rd-ranked pairing of senior Brendan Tannenbaum and junior George Wall at the No. 1 position and a 6-2 victory by junior Max Schmidt and freshman Roko Glasnovic at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, senior Dovydas Sakinis and sophomore Max Fliegner were ahead, 5-2, when the match was retired.

All it took were three straight singles wins to shut the match down. At the No. 3 position, Fliegner had a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Josh Pompan, while Glasnovic defeated Blaine Willenborg by scores of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. A victory by the same scores by No. 90 Sakinis over Kyle Mautner at the No. 1 position clinched the win for Dartmouth.

The Big Green will play their final home match of the regular season on Friday, April 15, welcoming Brown to Hanover for a 3 p.m. match.
