"Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays"

Secretary Clinton To Host Annual Unaccompanied Tours Holiday Reception, "Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays"

For the fourth consecutive year, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will host “Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays,” a holiday reception honoring the service, dedication, and sacrifice of U.S. Government employees on assignment at unaccompanied posts around the world, who endure long periods of separation from their families.
The reception will take place on December 18 at 4:00 pm in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms at the Department of State.
This year, the program will include remarks by Secretary of State Hillary Rodman Clinton, Chief of Protocol Capricia Penavic Marshall, and Under Secretary of State Patrick Kennedy. James Taylor and his wife Caroline, who have generously volunteered their services, will also perform.
During the event, children of U.S. diplomats serving unaccompanied tours and children from foreign embassies in Washington, DC will prepare care packages that include cards, gifts, event photos, confections, and other donated items for those serving abroad. Family members will also have the opportunity to record YouTube videos during the event to send virtual greetings to their loved ones. This event is made possible through public-private partnerships.
