Owls Top Lancers In Overtime, 2-1

WORCESTER, Mass.-- Morgan Kathan certainly has a flair for the dramatic; the sophomore forward scored her first goal of the season 1:08 into overtime to give the Keene State College women's soccer team a 2-1 win over Worcester State University on Wednesday night.

Keene State, playing for the third time in five days, as well as its second overtime contest in a row, improves to 6-3-2.  The Lancers fall to 5-4-2.

The Owls had taken the lead just 2:16 into the game, when Shannon Summers corralled a loose ball from 20 yards out and scored her fourth goal in four games.

The Lancers had tied the game in the 24th minute on Alicia Macomber's free kick from 25 yards out.
Worcester State had a chance to go ahead in the 75th minute when Macomber hit the crossbar, but the game headed to OT, where Kathan, who scored a memorable winner against Western Connecticut State a year ago, took a through ball from Rebecca Costello and broke away for her first of the season.

Danielle Warhall made four stops in the KSC net.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Rhode Island College on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Lancers travel to MCLA on the same day.
