The Middlebury women's cross country team finished second among
Division III teams competing and 10th overall, while the men's squad was
third and 12th during the 2015 Open New England Championships at
Franklin Park in Boston. Each field featured nearly 40 teams from all
three NCAA divisions.
Abigail Nadler
led the Middlebury women with a fifth-place individual finish out of
263 entrants in 17:51.2 over the 5K course, earning her All-New England
honors. She crossed the finish line behind three Boston College runners
as well as a participant from Northeastern. Next to stop the clock was Adrian Walsh in 64th place (18:47.9), followed by Erzsie Nagy in 68th (18:49.6). Placing 71st overall for Middlebury was Robin Vincent in 18:50.6, while Katherine MacCary rounded out the team's scorers in 85th place (18:59.9).
On the men's side, Sebastian Matt was Middlebury's top performer,
finishing the race in an 8K time of 25:20.8, good for 26th place.
Ascencion Aispuro grabbed a 46th-place finish (25:34.7), followed by
Ethan Realander in 64th place (25:43). Sam Klockenkemper posted a
102nd-place time of 26:04.7, while Connor Evand completed the scoring
contingent with a time of 26:10.4, good for 117th place.
The teams return to action next Saturday when they compete in the
Albany Invitational. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11:45
a.m., while the men will run at 12:30 p.m.
