CASTLETON, Vt. - - The Colby-Sawyer
women's lacrosse team improved to 5-1 in the North Atlantic Conference
(NAC) after Tuesday's 13-1 victory over Green Mountain. The game was
played at Castleton University.
The Chargers improve to 6-5 overall and are in second place in the NAC
standings at 5-1. Colby-Sawyer plays at Fitchburg tomorrow night at 5
p.m. before celebrating senior day on Sunday at home against Norwich at
3:30 p.m. Green Mountain drops to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The Eagles play at Thomas on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer outshot the Eagles 34-13 and won 11 of 16 draw controls.
The Chargers put eight on the board in the first half and added five in the second to win their second game in a row. Nicole Lavigne led the team with five goals, four draw controls and four caused turnovers. Sara Berry added three goals, while Molly Mulcahy scored twice. Scoring single goals for the Chargers were Maryalice Gurnee, Shannon Green and Bailey Starr. Gurnee and Berry had the only assists.
Meghan Castellano made eight saves to earn her sixth win in goal.
