Freshmen Lead Eagles against Johnson

POULTNEY, Vt. – A pair of freshmen led the way for the Eagles as Green Mountain College and Johnson State College paired up for a two team golf tournament at the Rutland Country Club on Thursday afternoon.

The Badgers bested the Eagles in the two team affair with Green Mountain finishing the day with a team score of 418 to the Badgers' 384.

Will Durant (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Eagles with a low round of 95 on the day which placed him third overall in the tournament. Chris Surdam (Plymouth, Mass.) registered the second best round of the day for GMC, just three shots behind his teammate, to finish with a score of 98 and a fourth place finish.

Dakota Dodson (St. Augustine, Fla.) placed third for the team with a round of 106 which ranked him sixth overall. Tyler Provencher (Ferrisburgh, Vt.) and Dennis Pierson (Clifton, N.J.) placed ninth and tenth overall with scores of 119 and 123, respectively.

Green Mountain returns to Rutland Country Club again Friday and Saturday to compete in the North Atlantic Conference Championship. The first round of action will get started at 10 a.m. on Friday with the second round scheduled for tee off at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
