Manchester, New Hampshire - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Millennium Running, NH's premier road race management company, announced a new beneficiary for the 2012 running of the Fisher Cats Thanksgiving 5K, presented by MVP Health Care. The second installment of the annual race will benefit New Hampshire's Hospital for Children, the pediatric specialists in the Elliot Health System.
"The inaugural Thanksgiving 5K was a huge success thanks to our fans, our partner Millennium Running, and the event's presenting sponsor, MVP Health Care," said Rick Brenner, Fisher Cats President. "We are excited to see this year's race benefit the outstanding care provided by New Hampshire's Hospital for Children."
"This was a fun, new initiative to bring to Manchester last year," said race director and Millennium Running founder, John Mortimer. "We are proud to be part of a unique family event that will support this great cause."
The Thanksgiving 5K was created to provide New Hampshire's largest city with a family-friendly event on the busiest road race day of the year. More than 1,200 registrants entered the first race in 2011, finishing inside Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. This year's race begins at 9 AM on Thanksgiving morning, November 22, and will take participants through the historic Millyard in downtown Manchester before finishing inside the ballpark once again.
"We are honored to be chosen as the beneficiary of the Thanksgiving 5K. Like the race, New Hampshire's Hospital for Children is in its second year and we are humbled to be recognized as worthy of the support this event will provide, and we appreciate the spotlight it shines on our unique and life-saving pediatric services," said Kevin Petit, Executive Director of Pediatrics.
Registration is currently open by visiting the Fisher Cats' website, www.nhfishercats.com, or Millennium Running's website, www.millenniumrunning.com. Registration is $25; kids 11 and under are free. The first 1,500 registrants will receive the official race Tech shirt. The first 200 kid will receive a youth-sized cotton race shirt. The first 1,500 overall will receive a free ticket to Fisher Cats Opening Day on April 4, 2013.
Awards for the race will be provided to the top 3 overall male and female finishers and top 2 finishers in fourteen different age groups.
This year's festivities will begin with a special Thanksgiving Eve party at the Samuel Adams Bar & Grill at the ballpark. The public is welcomed to join race participants on Wednesday, November 21, at 4 PM. The event will allow participants to pick up their bibs for the race. Popular New England-based artist Chad LaMarsh will take the stage at 5 PM, and the party will last into the night.
The Fisher Cats Thanksgiving 5K is the sixth of seven events in the MVP Health Care Millennium Running Series, presented by Centrix Bank. The Series will culminate with the BASC Santa Claus Shuffle on December 1 and the year-end party on December 27.

Season Ticket Holders enjoy a host of benefits, including monthly all-you-can-eat barbecues, a flexible exchange policy, a free kid's birthday party, invitation to exclusive events, and much more.
