Dover, New Hampshire - The Dover Chamber recently held a Ribbon Cutting ceremony to welcome Eastern Gate Ministries International (EGMI) as a new Chamber member.

EGMI is a non-profit, Christian organization involved in missionary work around the world. The organization’s goals are to provide basic necessities to impoverished communities and cultivate local leadership to help sustain communities once help is received. EGMI was founded in 2005 by Pastor John Sorice and Pastor Jim Guzofski with its primary focus on operating the Center of Hope Orphanage in Tanzania, which is comprised of an orphanage, secondary school, and bible school. The orphanage currently supports the food and clothing needs of 30 orphans and their staff. The orphans range in age from 2 to 13 years old. EGMI has a global vision to replicate its model in Tanzania to areas of need in Scotland and Bulgaria.

The organization also operates a clothing ministry called Grace’s Closet. Grace’s Closet is designed to restore strength and dignity by helping women feel confident and stand tall on the outside and inside. EGMI offers gently used clothing for loan for an interview or other special occasion. Workshops and consultative services are also provided to help women transition back into the workplace.

The organization relies on the dedication of its unpaid volunteer staff and board members, and the generosity of individual and corporate donors. Current business partners included local companies Relyco and Ross Furniture. EGMI recently opened an office in Dover and its next missionary trip to Tanzania is scheduled for July 2014.

To learn more about EGMI and how to get involved, visit them online at www.egmi.net or email contact@egmi.net. To contact Pastor John Sorice directly, call 603-609-8211.
