Office will serve seven states in New England area
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today announced the opening of its new office for the Northeast Region in Concord, N.H. A grand-opening celebration was held in the new office where representatives from AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs from across the region gathered along with CNCS CEO Barbara Stewart, Director of Senior Corps Deborah Cox-Roush, and Northeast Regional Administrator Maggie Garvey delivered remarks. Governor Chris Sununu and N.H. State Rep. Matt Wilhelm, an AmeriCorps alumnus, were on hand to welcome the new CNCS office to the Granite State.
The new office will serve seven states across the region: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. CNCS provides $85 million in funding to the region and this federal investment leverages an additional $118 million in local, outside investments. The funding provided by CNCS supports more than 40,000 AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers who serve at 5,600 sites across all seven states.
As the nation's top provider of grants to support service and volunteering, CNCS harnesses America's most-powerful resource — the energy and talents of its citizens — to help communities address local challenges. These service efforts include tutoring and mentoring children, responding to the opioid crisis, and helping communities recover from disasters.
Working in collaboration with governor-appointed state service commissions, the Northeast Region office will connect communities to national service resources through AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs. Its staff will assist national service applicants and grantees by providing training, technical assistance, and administrative oversight. In addition, they will promote the national days of service on MLK Day and September 11th.

The Northeast Region office is one of eight new regional offices for CNCS and is part of a first phase of regional office openings this fall that also includes the Mountain Region office in Denver and the North Central Region office in Kansas City, Mo. Five more offices — located in Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; Los Angeles; and Philadelphia — will open during the next year.
