Dartmouth Opens Ivy Play with a Loss













Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Big Green fell to Brown by a score of 4-1 in their return to Ivy play, Sunday night. Senior midfielder Maddie Mills scored the lone goal for Dartmouth (4-3-1) and junior goalkeeper Charlotte Cyr made nine saves.
 
The first half saw a flurry of goals. Brown (6-3)

took an early 2-0 lead, scoring in the eighth minute and again in the 18th minute. The Big Green continued to battle and cut the lead to one in the 33rd minute when Mills found the back of the net and was assisted by freshman forward Hannah Curtin. The score was 2-1 at half and Cyr made four saves on six shots through 45 minutes.
 
The Big Green fought to hold off the Bears' attack to start the second half. Cyr made two saves before a foul by senior defender Grace Rorke resulted in a penalty kick for Brown. The Bears capitalized and held a 3-1 lead in the 67th minute. Brown scored again 12 minutes later in the 79th minute to make the score 4-1. That score line held through the 90th minute.
 
Dartmouth returns to the field, Saturday for a home matchup against Princeton at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
