Panther Women Stay Unbeaten With Victory Over Westmont

The fifth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team remained unbeaten with a convincing 9-0 victory over NAIA foe Westmont on Thursday in California. The match was contested at Pomona-Pitzer's Pauley Tennis Complex. The Panthers improve to 6-0 with the win, while the Warriors fall to 7-7. Middlebury returns to action on Friday with a 3:00 p.m. match at third-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Middlebury notched all three points during doubles play. The No. 3 tandem of Christina Puccinelli and Heather Boehm posted an 8-0 victory over Tatum Phillips and Delaney Roche. The Panther team of Catherine Blazye and Maddi Stow eased past Cade Pierson and Zarina Huber by an 8-1 score in the second spot, while the No. 1 pair of Katherine Hughes and Skylar Schossberger claimed an 8-2 victory over Isabel Lee and Peyton Trebisky.

In singles, the Panthers were victorious in straight sets during all six matches. Ann Martin Skelly breezed by Huber at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0), while Emily Bian clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the fifth spot over Roche.

Hughes kept things rolling with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 against Lee, while Molly Paradies eased to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the fourth spot against Phillips. Boehm was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Pierson at No. 2, while Schossberger completed the sweep with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) triumph against Trebisky in the third flight.
