New England College Men's Lacrosse Marches Past Norwich, 8-5, for Seventh-Straight Win

NORTHFIELD, Vt.--The New England College men's lacrosse team scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter to set the tone in its 8-5 non-conference win over Norwich University on Monday night.  

The win is the seventh-straight for the Pilgrims, who improve to 7-4 on the season. With the loss, Norwich falls to 4-5.  
 

NEC LEADERS 
Senior Matt Richard (Weare, N.H.) and freshman Charles Hacking (Canterbury, N.H.) both scored twice to lead the Pilgrims. Tom Zervos (Montreal, Quebec), Jacob Blanchette (Weare, N.H.), Reilly Parker (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Patrick Storie (Williamstown, Mass.) all scored one goal each for the Pilgrims.  
 

Junior Connor Fries (Barnstable, Mass.) scooped up a game-high six ground balls, while Austin Frankel (Peabody, Mass.) was 6-for-12 on the face-off.  
 

NORWICH LEADERS 
Josh Jenkins scored three of the Cadets' five goals, while Chris Ward and Ian Kennedy tallied one apiece. Cody Moore dished out a game-high three assists.  
 

HOW IT HAPPENED  
Hacking scored back-to-back goals in a span of 1:13 put the Pilgrims up 2-0 midway through the first quarter, and Parker and Blanchette scored 1:54 apart a few minutes later to give NEC a 4-0 lead after one quarter of play.  
 

The Cadets scored the first two goals of the second quarter to come within two, but the Pilgrims would score the final three goals of the game and would hold the Cadets scoreless in the fourth quarter to seal the win.  
 

WHAT'S NEXT  
The Pilgrims will be back in action on Saturday, April 7th for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at Thomas College.
