Smithtown, NY - Our latest "Musician Spotlight is on a very talent young lady who sings and writes songs. This talented Musician is 12 year old Tori Wilson from New York. Tori is our latest Musician to be featured as she has strong vocals and lyrics. In this "Musician Spotlight" we will highlight her story, share a few photos, future appearances and more.

Twelve-year-old singer-songwriter Tori Wilson New York in August 1999, Tori currently lives, trains and goes to school in Long Island, New York.

Musician Spotlight: Rising Singer/Songwriter Maria Diebolt

There is a 13 year old talented young Lady that caught our attention from Fisher, Indiana. This talented Singer/Songwriter is Maria Diebolt who is a great Singer/Songwriter whose style of singing is Pop.

Thirteen year old singer/songwriter sensation Maria Diebolt (Dee-bolt) is already taking the world by storm with her insightful lyrics and a vocal maturity beyond her years! She has been singing publicly for about five years and has already garnered local, national, and international acclaim for her talents. Currently, Maria can be heard at local venues singing her own sets with Indy’s top band Zanna-Doo! She also has a keen interest in songwriting and recently recorded three original songs, including the heartfelt “Stay Strong” which was written for a classmate who was diagnosed with lymphoma. Maria’s other originals showcase the scope of her songwriting skills. “All I Know” is a pop/rock song in the style of Kelly Clarkson or Demi Lovato and the upbeat pop song “ I'll Be Here For You” is a catchy tune which appeals to an audience of all ages. She just recorded a soulful version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” which is available on iTunes along with her first three originals. Maria also has a full repertoire of cover songs in her catalog.

Maria has performed and competed at a variety of venues, including U.S. Cellular Field where she sang the National Anthem for a Chicago White Sox game this summer. She has won several vocal competitions, including St. Simon Idol, CarmelFest Has Talent, the Hamilton County Fair Talent Contest, as well as several regional voice and dance competitions. She was named Outstanding Performer for three consecutive years at the Catholic Youth Organization’s Music Contest in Indianapolis. Her largest live audience was in 2008 at the Circle of Lights Christmas Tree Lighting in downtown Indianapolis. Maria was the youngest soloist chosen to perform in front of an estimated crowd of 100,000 people. The event was also televised on WRTV, the local ABC affiliate.

Maria has performed locally at several events, including “A Night To Unite” campaign against hate and bullying, Classic Movie Events at Forest Park, Circle City Voice Showcase, Second Saturday Gallery Walk, Midwest School of Voice Showcase, Art In The Park, Carmel Community Players Haunted Cabaret, Cookies ‘n Santa at Fishers Town Hall, The Fishers Freedom Festival, The Indiana State Fair, school talent shows and at her church. Maria has been dancing for over 11 years and has been trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, modern and contemporary. She is the daughter of Ann Diebolt and resides in Fishers, Indiana.

We most recently had the chance to interview this 13 year old young Lady Maria Diebolt.

When did you start singing?
I've been singing almost since I could talk!  My mom noticed pretty early on that I had a really pretty vibrato, so she enrolled me in voice lessons right before my 9th birthday.

Was it your dream to be a singer?
For as long as I can remember!!!  My mom just put together a video to my recording of Eva Cassidy’s “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and it brought back SO many memories – I guess it shows that I've been a performer almost all my life…even just while I was standing on my bed singing into a little karaoke machine microphone!

Tell us about your style of singing?
I like all different kinds of music, but mostly pop.  I get kind of uncomfortable when people ask me who I sound like, because I really just want to sound like myself!  People have told me that they hear a little Kelly Clarkson, or Demi Lovato, or Pink sometimes in my voice, but I just want to sound like Maria Diebolt!

Are there challenges pursuing a singing career?
It’s hard to focus full time on singing at my age, but I’m trying really hard to do that!  I’m in 8th grade, so obviously school is a priority – homework gets in the way of my singing a lot!  I’m also in a couple of dance classes and I dance with my school’s dance company.  It’s also hard to find places to perform at my age – it’s easier during the summer months when there are festivals and outdoor venues.

Does your parents and friends support you?
Yes!  I'm so lucky to have a mom that supports me 100% in my singing and songwriting!  I’m only 13, so I know I wouldn't be able to do the things I’m doing now without her!  My friends are really great too – my last video (Hello) starred one of my best friends – she was my “stalker”!  It’s really cool to think that I have actual “fans”, but I guess I do!!!  I've met many of them through YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and ReverbNation – and they have been incredibly supportive of me!  It’s amazing and I’m so grateful!!!

Do you write your own songs?
Yes, I've been writing songs for quite a while now.  I have several songs in my journal and I've been able to record three of them in the studio (my EP entitled Only The Beginning).  I also have enough songs ready to record my first full-length album called Inner Beauty.  I currently have a Kickstarter campaign running in order to raise funds to record this album.  (www.Kickstarter.com)

If so, tell us what goes into writing a great song?
I get my inspiration everywhere…from relationships (boyfriend and girlfriend), or friendships, or even just looking out the window and seeing the sun shining on the water!  No matter what you write, it just ends up being a story, you're telling a story.

Where was your first performance, were you excited?
My very first vocal performance was at a Christmas function in my hometown.  I was a tiny bit nervous, but I was more excited to get up there and sing!  I sang 2 songs – first I sang Silent Night, then I sang Think Of Me from Phantom of the Opera.  When I finished, all my friends came rushing up to me and they were all telling me that I made their parents cry!  I had a lot of parents tell me how much it touched them when I sang that song and it brought them to tears!  It was hard to understand that I could have that kind of effect on people!

Where have you been able to perform?
I've been able to perform in a variety of places!  My biggest crowd to perform in front of was in 2008 at the Circle of Lights, which is the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in downtown Indianapolis.  I was the youngest soloist ever chose to perform – I sang three songs in the pre-show, then the live show was televised on our local Indianapolis TV station and I sang “My Favorite Things” to Santa Claus!  The crowd was estimated at over 100,000 people.  I have also performed at several local and regional dance/vocal competitions, festivals and fairs.  This past summer I was lucky enough to meet Lisa Sauce, who is the owner of Blonde Entertainment.  She has become my mentor and good friend!!  She has allowed me to perform live with one of the biggest bands in Indianapolis (Zanna Doo) and it’s been such a great experience.  Two of the guys from this band are going to help me with my upcoming album – they are awesome musicians and awesome people, I’m very lucky to have all of them in my life right now!  My biggest, most recent performance was singing the National Anthem at Cellular Field at a Chicago White Sox game this past summer.  It was amazing!!!!  I also got to sing the National Anthem and a couple of other songs at a 9/11 event this past September called America Remembers.  I felt very honored to participate in that event.  I have some National Anthem gigs coming up with the Indiana Ice hockey team in the next couple of months and I will be performing at a holiday event in Indianapolis on December 9th  called Evening Of Holiday Joy which is a fundraiser for St. Mary’s Child Center and Wish Upon a Wedding.

Who inspires you with your singing and songwriting?
As I said before, I get my inspiration everywhere.  There are so many artists out there that inspire me to use my songwriting for good use – like to try to stop bullying, to encourage hope, to inspire others to go and make a difference in their lives as well as others lives.  Artists I look up to are Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and many, many more.  One of the first songs I recorded was called Stay Strong – it was a song I wrote for a friend of mine who was diagnosed with Lymphoma.  When I heard the news, and found out what she was going to go through, I felt helpless!  I wanted to do something, but we couldn't afford to donate money…so I decided to use my talents and write her a song.  Today, she is cancer free!  She is such an inspiration, not just to me but to everyone!

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I want to perform EVERYWHERE in the world!  It’s always been my dream and my goal to go on a World Tour!

Along the same line, who would you love to perform with?
I would be thrilled to work with any artist right now – there are so many!!!  Of course, any of the artists that I mentioned above would be at the top of my list!!!

What are some of your goals for your Music?
My ultimate goal is to get my music out there and to inspire people the way I've been inspired!  And to go on a world tour!  But my immediate goal right now is to get my album recorded, hopefully by reaching my funding goal in my Kickstarter campaign.

Kickstarter.com is a website that helps people get funding for their projects, whether it’s music, dance, film, games, literature and so on.  You put your project on their website with your funding goal and you have a set amount of time that your campaign will run.  If you don’t meet your financial goal by the end, you don’t get anything, no one is charged, and the project just dies – or you try it again at some point.  My campaign is currently running through November 24th – which is my birthday!!!  I’m hoping for the BEST birthday present ever – to get that project fully funded so that I can go into the studio and record my album!

What do you hope to accomplish with your singing/songwriting?
I hope someday I can inspire others the way I've been inspired.  And it doesn't have to be a huge, big thing – sometimes it’s that lonely moment when you're sitting in your room, and you think you're ugly and no one likes you….then you hear a song that tells you you're beautiful just the way you are, that you can stay strong and make it through those lonely times, that it’s OK to break up with that boy, because something better is waiting for you down the road!

Do you have any advice for those wanting to start a career in singing and songwriting?
Just start writing and keep a journal.  Write down everything, even if you don't think it’s good, it probably is!  A lot of the stuff I've written, I'm not sure it’s good, but then people read it or hear it and say “Whoa, that is amazing!!!” Just believe in yourself, write everything down, and keep practicing!  It’s hard because there are so many great young artists out there, but just be true to yourself and keep working!

Is there anything else you want our readers to know about you, your singing/songwriting?
I really couldn't do any of this stuff without the support of my mom.  She has raised me by herself – I don't even know my dad, he has chosen not to be a part of our lives.  I know it’s been hard, she owns a dance store (which I try to help out with) and she works 2 or 3 jobs, depending on the time of year and she takes care of my grandma, who lives with us.  We don't have a “typical” family, but we do our best!  I've learned so much over the past few years – we've struggled like a lot of people these days, and I've learned that I can get by on just a little bit….I don't have to have all the best shoes, or the best clothes, or the latest phone…at the end of the day, that’s not the important stuff.  It’s important to have the love of your family and friends, we have a roof over our heads and we are making it.  We have a very strong faith, and that has helped us through all the really rough times!  Maybe someday I'll be able to repay my mom for all the sacrifices she’s made so that I can sing and dance!

Do you have any other talents?
I love to dance!  I've been taking dance for over 11 years.  In addition songwriting  it’s another good way to express my emotions.  For quite a few years I danced on a competitive team, which was a lot of fun, but I had to scale back on that because my music is my main priority now.  I’m still taking a few dance classes a week and I just got my first pair of pointe shoes!!  I'm taking my first pointe class, which has been one of my dreams for a long time!  I also dance on my junior high dance team, which is so much fun! I love spending that time with my friends!

Maria is a very talented young Lady that has a very bright future ahead of her. We wish all the best as she follows her dreams.

Musician Spotlight: Megan Knight Singer/Songwriter of New Jersey

Williamstown, New Jersey - There is an amazing 13 year old Singer/Songwriter from New Jersey whose talent caught our attention. This 13 year old Singer/Songwriter is Megan Knight, who has a great singing voice and following her dreams.

Megan Knight is a high school freshman from Southern New Jersey. She has been performing as a solo acoustic singer/songwriter since September, 2011, at the age of 13. 

Megan is a self-taught acoustic guitar player that likes to dabble with piano, and percussion instruments.  She has been known to bring a kick drum to some of the local festivals that she has participated in, along with her guitar and wonderful singing ability, this young talent knows how to put on a show that captures all audiences.

Musician Spotlight: Rising Singer/Songwriter Temara Melek

Today, we featuring an aspiring Singer/Songwriter from the west coast state of California by the name of Temara Melek. This Singers style is pop/rock and has co-written many of her own songs. Some of her songs are "Burn It Up", "Fool Me Twice", "Main Attraction" and "Don't Let Me Go", just to name a few. Temara is a talented young aspiring teen Singer/Songwriter with a very bright career ahead.
Temara Melek is an aspiring teen pop artist whose dancing and stage performances are a must see! Temara always knew she wanted to become a recording artist and has worked her entire life singing, dancing and preparing for her time in the spotlight. She incorporates her dance training into her stage shows and really loves the whole "Production" of a concert. Temara's musical influences are artists such as Cher Lloyd, Little Mix, and Jesse J. Temara’s first single Pour it on Sweet was nominated for a HMMA award in 2011 for best pop song. In just a year, Temara has established a strong fan base with over 200,000 twitter followers and thousands of Facebook fans and youtube subscribers. She has been featured in BYOU magazine 2 times, once as one of the 9 Hollywood  teens to keep your eye on. She was also featured in the Bellaboo online magazine promoting girls self esteem.

We recently had the chance to interview Miss Temara on her singing and what she hopes to accomplish with this type of career. Below are the answers to our questions. It is great to promote and highlight Singer/Songwriters and Musicians, who are following their dreams.

Temara, when did you start singing?
My mom says I was born a performer and I have been dancing and singing around the house since before I can remember. My first stage performance was at age 6 and I sang "Candle on the Water".  Professionally as a recording artist I released my first single in 2011.

Was it your dream to be a singer?
I have always loved singing and dancing and always dreamed of being a professional singer and being able to share the talent God has blessed me with.

Tell us about your style of singing?
I sing pop music. I enjoy upbeat songs that people can dance too and have a good time.

Are there challenges being in school and pursuing a singing career?
Yes, School is challenging as I am frequently in the recording studio or dance class. But I feel an education is so important and I take my studies seriously. I attend a private school and thankfully they are very supportive of my career.

Does your parents and friends support you?
I am so blessed to have very supportive friends and a very close family. They are always there when I need them and love them all very much.

Do you write your own songs?
I have co-written some of my songs and have songs that were written for me.

If so, tell us what goes into writing a great song?
Feelings, thoughts, emotions and experiences go into the song writing process. It's important that your songs are relatable and by using your own experiences, it's easier to connect.

Where was your first performance, were you excited?
My first performance since I started singing professionally was at Level 3 in Hollywood, Ca. I was SO excited. I rehearsed with my dancers several days for this performance and LOVED choosing our costumes for this show.

Where have you been able to perform?
My favorite place I have performed so far is Knotts Berry Farm. That was really fun!

Who inspires you with your singing and songwriting? 
I am inspired by Taylor Swift and the amazing lyrics she comes up with. I also like the individuality of Cher Lloyd.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
My dream is to sell out Madison Square Garden someday. I also really want to perform in London, England.

Along the same line, who would you love to perform with?
I really want to collaborate with One Direction, UnionJ, Cher Lloyd or Little Mix. I also want to write a song with Ed Sheeran.

What are some of your goals for your Music?
To continue to grow and produce music people enjoy.

What do you hope to accomplish with your singing/songwriting?
I hope to get signed to a label, continue to write, tour the world and meet all my fans.

Temara, do you have any advice for those wanting to start a career in singing and songwriting?
Honestly this is a very hard industry to break into but as long as you have the passion and love for what you are doing, anything is possible. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work but as long as you stay focused, you can make your dreams come true. Just stay positive and never give up!

Musician Spotlight: Rising Singer/Songwriter Payton Taylor

Today, we bring you an all new Musician Spotlight featuring a talented, young, Singer from Nashville, Tennessee. The Singer is 15 year old Payton Taylor, who is an inspiring Country Singer.

 In the summer of 2012, Payton Taylor performed at several of the country's largest music festivals, such as Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the CMA (Country Music Association) Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. She has released her debut CD, entitled "Shine" and has opened for major artists, such as Casey James, Chuck Wicks, Collin Raye, Lorrie Morgan, Pam Tillis, and the legendary Charlie Daniels Band. But, despite these milestones in her career, the Southern New Jersey native still remembers singing since she was barely able to speak. Never one to shy away from a stage, Payton jumped at any opportunity to perform; church events, school plays, local festivals, and anywhere else that would let her get up and sing, all witnessed this tenacious little girl’s love of performing. But it wasn't until the summer of 2009 that the then 12-year-old Payton discovered her true passion for singing – Country Music.

During a trip to Nashville, Tennessee in August 2009, Payton was invited to jump on stage at a local music venue and perform a couple of songs. “That’s when I knew I wanted to sing Country Music for the rest of my life,” says Taylor, “During that trip, I fell in love with Nashville – it’s music, history, and its culture.” Now, only three years later, Payton is making her mark in the industry with her energetic stage performances and her catchy songwriting, and creating a genuine buzz that is making fans stand up and take notice. She was a finalist for the 2011 Texaco Country Showdown, and has been gaining national attention through multiple TV appearances, newspaper and magazine interviews, and a strong social media presence through sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

At only 15 years of age, Payton has achieved a great deal in her blossoming career, but she’s not ready to rest on her laurels: “I know I have a lot to learn, and a lot of time to grow and mature as a singer, a songwriter, and an artist. I want to do whatever I can and take as much time as I need to achieve my dreams and make a career out of doing what I love.” She’s already planning her next CD project, which she hopes will feature more material she wrote herself, she has switched to homeschooling to accommodate her busy schedule on the road and in the studio, and is already taking some college courses to get a jump on her college education. The past few years have indeed been busy for Payton Taylor, but if the past is any indication of the future, there’s no telling what the next three years hold in store for this young talent.

When did you start singing?
I've honestly been singing for as long as I can remember. My first public performance was with my church choir at the age of six.

Was it your dream to be a singer?
Absolutely - When I was three, I knew every Britney Spears song, and I would put on shows in my house for my family. Shirley Temple was another idol.

Tell us about your style of singing?
I've had the benefit of performing different genres, from Showtunes, to Country, to Pop. I also have many different influences: Norah Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Leann Rimes, Karen Carpenter, Martina McBride, Alison Krauss (to name a few). I think all those influences comes together to form my style.

Are there challenges pursuing a singing career?
There's so many challenges, it's almost impossible to list them all, but I enjoy taking them on. Whenever I feel like I've hit a brick wall, I think about a quote by one of my favorite authors, Randy Pausch: "The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something."

Do your parents and friends support you?
My family is my biggest support team - they've given up so much to help me achieve my goals and dreams; I honestly couldn't do all this without them. I am truly blessed. And my firends couldn't be more supportive, from coming out to shows, to helping me promote my music, they're always there for me.

Do you write your own songs?
I do write my own songs. My writing partner is usually my manager, Joe Caliva, and I have been concentrating much more on my writing lately. On my last CD, I only got to include one song that I wrote myself  On the project I'm recording now, all the tracks will be music I've written with Joe.

If so, tell us what goes into writing a great song?
I think the best songs are the ones with a great melody or "hook", great lyrics, and has a story that connects with people. As far as the "process" of writing a great song, I think it's important for writers to write what they know and find their own voice; don't worry about what's popular or what sounds "radio ready".

Where was your first performance, were you excited?
My first performance as a country artist was at a local school carnival. I was supposed to be performing on an outdoor stage, but right before the band and I were supposed to start, one of the worst rainstorms that I ever saw hit the area.  But, they didn't cancel the show - we had a ton of people move everything into the gym and everyone stayed in there until the storm passed. The show went on and I had a captive audience, so everything worked out for the best.

Where have you been able to perform?
I've been so lucky, and have had the opportunity to perform at so many great venues. But, some of the most memorable have been CMA Fest in Nashville, Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago, the "Welcome America 4th of July Celebration" in Philadelphia, and the Chesapeake Inn in Maryland. There's a chance I'll be performing in Las Vegas this December, so that will definitely be exciting!

Who inspires you with your singing and songwriting?
I mentioned a few of my singing influences, but as far as songwriters, many of my influences tend to be Singer/Songwriters: Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert, Sarah Jarosz, Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I definitely want to perform all over the world. But my ultimate dream is to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville someday. They refer to that theater as the "Mother Church" of country music, and you definitely feel as though you're in a hallowed place when you walk the halls there. As an artist, you know you have finally been accepted by your peers when you play the Opry.

Along the same line, who would you love to perform with?
I think I would be able to die happy if I got to perform a duet with Dolly Parton - she is my ultimate idol, as a songwriter, as a singer, as a business woman. It doesn't get any more country than Dolly.

What are some of your goals for your Music?
I want to make a career out of doing what I love - writing, performing, recording. Number one hits, touring, fame, and all that would be nice, but I'd consider myself successful if I get to wake up every morning and make music.

What do you hope to accomplish with your singing/songwriting?
I definitely want to give it my best shot to become a Singer/Songwriter, writing and performing my own songs. But, if that doesn't work out, I'd love to write for other artists, and maybe even produce recordings.

Do you have any advice for those wanting to start a career in singing and songwriting?
For anyone wanting to get into this crazy business, I always tell them they should work hard, surround themselves with an amazing support team, be prepared to make a lot of sacrifices, and network as often and with as many people as you can. Perform everywhere and anywhere you can, and get your music and your name out to as many people and in as many places as possible. I'd also say to be diligent, be honest, and be yourself.
