40TH ARMY BAND TO PERFORM


The Vermont National Guard and the Office of the Adjutant General are proud to present “Vermont’s Own” 40th Army Band Concert Band performing on Saturday February 9, 2013 at 4:00 PM at the Fine Arts Center on the campus of Castleton State College.  The program will also feature the Castleton State College Wind Ensemble.  Each ensemble will perform individual pieces and then come together as one large concert band to perform “Kaddish” by W. Francis McBeth and “Second Suite for Military band in F major” by Gustav Holst.    
     Conductors for the concert are: Chief Warrant Officer David A. Myers, bandmaster for the 40th Army Band; Mr. Glenn Giles, Professor of Music, Director of Instrumental Music and Music Department Chair at Castleton State College; and Dr. Matthew Smith, Associate Director of Bands at Castleton State College.
       Members of the 40th Army Band serve one weekend a month and two weeks of Annual Training each year in the Vermont Army National Guard.  As civilians the rest of the year, they are engaged in such diverse occupations as education, law, security, technology, medical, and sales.

The concert is free and open to the public.
