New England College Women's Lacrosse Falls to Keene State, 22-5

HENNIKER, N.H.—The New England College women's lacrosse team suffered a 22-5 loss to the Owls of Keene State College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The loss snaps a six-game winning streak for the Pilgrims, who fall to 7-3 overall. Keene improves to 5-6 with the win.

NEC LEADERS
The Pilgrims were led by Alana Scott (Huntington, Vt.) with two goals. Tara Bainbridge (South Hadley, Mass.) dished out three assists and scored a goal.

Bainbridge also won a team-best eight draw controls.

KSC LEADERS
The Owls were led by Gabby Smith with four goals and three assists. Chelsea Lewis and Taylor Farland also had four goals apiece, while Ali Daisy tallied three goals and two assists.

Keene State scored 10 of their goals on free positions.

Farland had a game-high nine draw control wins and also scooped up two ground balls.

GOALKEEPERS
The Pilgrims received 14 saves from freshman netminder McKenzie Gallasso (South Windsor, Conn.). Keene's Anna O'Brien tallied six saves. Keene outshot NEC 41-17 on the day.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims will resume North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday on the road at Thomas College.

New England College Baseball Splits NAC Doubleheader with Castleton

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College Baseball would extend their win streak to 13 games with a 21-5 victory in game one but would fall in game 2, 6-0 to split their doubleheader with Castleton.

The Pilgrims will now be 14-4 on the season with a 3-1 record in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while Castleton with go to 7-8 overall with a 1-1 record in the NAC.

NORTHFIELD, Vt.--The New England College men's lacrosse team scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter to set the tone in its 8-5 non-conference win over Norwich University on Monday night.  

The win is the seventh-straight for the Pilgrims, who improve to 7-4 on the season. With the loss, Norwich falls to 4-5.  
 

NEC LEADERS 
Senior Matt Richard (Weare, N.H.) and freshman Charles Hacking (Canterbury, N.H.) both scored twice to lead the Pilgrims. Tom Zervos (Montreal, Quebec), Jacob Blanchette (Weare, N.H.), Reilly Parker (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Patrick Storie (Williamstown, Mass.) all scored one goal each for the Pilgrims.  
 

Junior Connor Fries (Barnstable, Mass.) scooped up a game-high six ground balls, while Austin Frankel (Peabody, Mass.) was 6-for-12 on the face-off.  
 

NORWICH LEADERS 
Josh Jenkins scored three of the Cadets' five goals, while Chris Ward and Ian Kennedy tallied one apiece. Cody Moore dished out a game-high three assists.  
 

HOW IT HAPPENED  
Hacking scored back-to-back goals in a span of 1:13 put the Pilgrims up 2-0 midway through the first quarter, and Parker and Blanchette scored 1:54 apart a few minutes later to give NEC a 4-0 lead after one quarter of play.  
 

The Cadets scored the first two goals of the second quarter to come within two, but the Pilgrims would score the final three goals of the game and would hold the Cadets scoreless in the fourth quarter to seal the win.  
 

WHAT'S NEXT  
The Pilgrims will be back in action on Saturday, April 7th for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at Thomas College.  

Richard Has Another Record Day as Men's Lacrosse Downs Lyndon, 18-5

HENNIKER, N.H.— Senior Matt Richard (Weare, N.H.) had another record-setting day for the New England College men's lacrosse team, dishing out 11 assists in the team's 18-5 win over Lyndon State College on Wednesday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.

The win boosts the Pilgrims to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in NAC play, while Lyndon falls to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in league action.

RICHARD RECORDS
With his 11^th assist of the game, Richard broke a 44-year-old program record for assists in a game, set by John Knight on April 25, 1974 against Colby College.

NEC LEADERS
Freshman Charles Hacking (Canterbury, N.H.) scored a team-best four goals, while classmate Reed Foster (Peabody, Mass.) scored three times. Patrick Storie (Williamstown, Mass.) and Connor Fries (Barnstable, Mass.) both scored twice.

Junior Austin Frankel (Peabody, Mass.) won nine of his 10 face-off attempts and scooped up a team-best seven ground balls.

LYNDON LEADERS
Shea Jones tallied two goals and an assist for the Hornets, while Jet Magri finished with a goal and an assist.

GOALTENDERS
NEC's Anthony Martino (Marlboro, N.J.) had 10 saves in his first collegiate start. Lyndon's Marcus Bessette finished with 19 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
NEC struck first on Fries' third goal of the season just 1:23 into the game, but Lyndon answered with an equalizer just over two minutes later. The Pilgrims led 5-2 after the first quarter. NEC scored five-straight goals in the second quarter, including an unassisted goal by Christian Russo (Cheshire, Conn.), scored off of his own face-off win. Lyndon's lone goal of the quarter broke up a nine-goal quarter for the Pilgrims, who led 12-3 at half.

The second half saw considerably less scoring. Hacking scored two of the three NEC goals in the third quarter, and Reilly Parker (Pittsfield, Mass.) scored twice in the fourth quarter.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to the University of New England for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game.

New England College: TWO EARLY GOALS LIFT FIELD HOCKEY PAST VISITING WELLS COLLEGE

Henniker, N.H. – New England College would use two first half goals to beat the visiting Wells College Express 2-1 in field hockey action Monday afternoon.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 4-10 on the season, while the loss drops the Express to 4-10 overall.

SCORING

NEC would open the scoring just 3:39 into the game as Abigail Arsenault would put in a nice feed from Aislinn deHorsey to record her third goal of the season. The Pilgrims would then make it 2-0 in the 17th minute as Kayla Donahue would rebound in a shot that was originally turned away by Wells keeper Kelsey Kokosa.  Wells would cut the lead to 2-1 in the 25th minute as the Express would get off a flurry of shots and Nicole Sales would come through with a goal off a scrum in front of the net.

Neither team would muster a second half goal as the Pilgrims held the slight advantage in both shots and penalty corners, out shooting the Express 8-7 and hold the 6-5 advantage in corners.

GOALTENDING

NEC's Michaela Clark picked up the win in net for the Pilgrims finishing with six saves. 

Kelsey Kokosa recorded two saves in the loss for Wells.

Henniker, N.H. – New England College lacrosse fell to league-leading Castleton University 18-8 in women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Spartans improve to 8-5 overall and 6-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.  The loss drops the Pilgrims to 9-7 overall and 5-2 in the NAC.

New England College Softball Drops Pair of Conference Games to Castleton

CASTLETON, Vt. – New England College softball dropped a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games to Castleton State College Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans came from behind to take game one, 4-3, before winning the second contest 9-1 in five innings. The Spartans' sweep moves them to 11-9 overall on the season and 6-2 in NAC play, putting them atop the conference standings. NEC falls to 13-15 overall and 4-2 in conference with the losses.

New England College Baseball Swept in Final Two Games of Thomas Series

Waterville, Maine – New England College baseball dropped a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games to Thomas College Sunday afternoon, falling in game one 6-1 and dropping game two 16-2.

With the losses the Pilgrims fall to 6-14 overall and 5-7 in NAC play, while the wins improve the Terriers to 14-12 overall and 8-6 in the NAC.

Game One

Thomas would use a four run fourth, highlighted by a double off the bat of Nick Beeson and a run scoring single by Hank Vinail.

NEC would get their lone run in the first inning as Vincent Backert would double to center scoring Lonnie Cohen who had singled.  Conor Crouse posted the other Pilgrim hit in game one.

Game Two

Thomas would pound out 22 hits and plate 16 runs over six innings topping the Pilgrims 16-2.

NEC posted one hit in game two, a double off the bat of Connor Crouse.

The Pilgrims will host conference opponent Castleton State College in a double-header on Wednesday, April 20.

Henniker, N.H. – New England College women's lacrosse would out score Husson University 11-2 in the second half of play as the Pilgrims topped the Eagles 13-9 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in NAC play.  While the loss drops the Eagles to 3-6 on the season and 2-3 in NAC.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 9-6 overall and remain undefeated in conference play improving to 6-0.  The loss drops the Eagles to 3-8 overall and 3-2 in the NAC.

New England College Softball Sweeps Maine-Farmington to Stay Undefeated in NAC

Henniker, N.H. - The New England College softball team remains undefeated in conference play, picking up two wins against conference opponent U-Maine Farmington.  The Pilgrims won game one 6-1 and game two 8-3.

With the wins NEC improves to 13-13 overall and 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.  The losses drop the Beavers to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

WATERVILLE, Maine --- New England College baseball split a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader with Thomas College Saturday afternoon, losing game one by a 5-0 score but coming back to win game two 3-2.

With the split, the Terriers are now 12-12 overall and 6-6 in the NAC. The Pilgrims are 6-12 overall and 5-5 in league play.

Nashua, N.H. - New England College broke open an early one-goal game with five straight goals to close the half and added a 10-goal second period to post a 17-3 victory over host Daniel Webster Wednesday at Eagle Field.

HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College softball dropped two games to non-conference opponent Middlebury College Wednesday afternoon losing 2-15 in game one and 1-13 in game two.

With the wins the Panthers improve their record 10-6, and the loses drop the Pilgrims to 11-13 overall.

Middlebury jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first scoring two runs, but Gabriella Marcheschi sailed a solo home run to bring the Pilgrims within one.

Johnson, Vt. – New England College women's lacrosse captured their third straight victory beating the Johnson State College Badgers 19-6 Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Pilgrims advance to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in the North Atlantic Conference. Johnson slides to 0-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
