Old Salt at Lamie’s Inn Wins First Annual Powder Keg Chili Competition

Exeter, New Hampshire – Saturday October 20, 2012, they came, they ate, they voted! People’s choice for best chili at the first Annual Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival was the Old Salt at Lamie’s Inn of Hampton. Over fifteen hundred people from around the seacoast gathered at Swasey Parkway in Exeter to indulge their taste buds with high class IPA’s, Ales, Stouts and chili.
Master Chef Michael Higgins and the Old Salt entered a flavorful “Hops Chili” which was made specifically for this event. “We specialized our recipe for the theme of the event” said Higgins. With beans Marinated in in Boston Ale, the Hops Chili won the hearts and taste buds of this beer loving crowd. What made this chili so outstanding was the perfect equilibrium of meat and beans. The chili possessed a tantalizing sweetness that was followed by a bit of bite which made every spoonful captivating.
“Exeter Hit one out of the park” Higgins commented about the event as a whole. This first Annual Festival was presented by the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce and the Exeter Parks and Recreation Department. In addition to the 14th Annual Fall Festival, the combination of these two events attracted near ten thousand people to Exeter.  “It’s a great opportunity for local restaurants, and we look forward to next year.” The 2013 Annual powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival is slated for October 19, 2013 at Swasey Parkway!
The Old Salt at Lamie’s Inn is located on Lafayette Road in Hampton and serves Chili every day!
