Henniker, N.H. – New England College men's lacrosse would celebrate
senior day powering past the visiting Husson University Eagles 21-2 in
North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday afternoon.
With the
win the Pilgrims improve to 9-6 overall and remain undefeated in
conference play improving to 6-0. The loss drops the Eagles to 3-8
overall and 3-2 in the NAC.
PILGRIM LEADERS
Leading the way for the Pilgrims was sophomore Matt Richard who had a stick in 12 of the Pilgrims'
21 goals with seven goals and five assists. Senior Skyler Saunders finished with four goals and three assists, while Sean Largay netted three goals and had one assist.
Midfielder Austin Frankel
finished the game 15-for-24 on face offs and scooped up a team-high
nine ground balls. Conner Fries caused four Eagle turnovers and picked
up seven ground balls.
EAGLE LEADERS
Scoring for Husson was Trent Sell and Brett Martin. Tyler Haskell caused two Pilgrim turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
FINAL COMPARISON
NEC finished the game out shooting Husson 59-22 and held the 35-13 advantage in ground balls.
The Pilgrims won 15-of-26 face-offs, while NEC was 15-of-19 in clear attempts and Husson finished 11-of-17.
GOALTENDING
Picking up the win in net for NEC was William Platt who finished the game 10 saves in 55 minutes of work.
Seeing the bulk of the time in net for Husson was Matt Martin who notched 12 saves in 45 minutes of play.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims return to action on Wednesday, April 20 when they host NAC rival Castleton State University.
Husson will hit the field again on Wednesday, April 20 when they host NAC opponent Thomas College.?
