Men's Lacrosse Stumbles Against Curry, 20-9

SPARKS, MD.—The New England College men's lacrosse team fell to Curry College 20-9, in non-conference action, Wednesday evening at William G. Tierney Field.

Following the game, the Pilgrims fell to 1-4 on the season, while the Colonels improve to 2-4 on the year.

NEC LEADERS
Connor Smith paced the NEC offense with five goals, while Jacob Blanchette chipped in a goal and four assists on the evening. Austin Frankel won 14 of 20 face-offs, while leading the team with seven ground balls. On the defensive end, David Benjamin and Maxime Danis had three caused turnovers.

CURRY LEADERS
Kyle Ton had six goals for Curry, while Harrison Fallon and Devin Newell had five apiece. Andrew DeLeary and Jake Stebbins each had three assists. Fallon had a team-high seven ground balls, while Ryan Ofgant had three caused turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED  
Curry College controlled action on the early minutes of the game by scoring the first five goals in just under nine minutes in. Smith got New England College on the board with 5:17 left in the first quarter, as the sophomore found the back of the cage. The Colonels quickly expanded their lead with six-straight tallied, extending their lead to 11-1 with 9:36 left in the first half.

The Pilgrims would not go quietly, as they would get goals from Smith, Reed Foster, Blanchette, and Brendan Gruning to get within five (11-6), three minutes into the third quarter. Curry would push their advantage back to eight, with three man-up goals, before Patrick Storie scored with 7:50 in the third.

The Colonels were just too much for New England College, as they would outscore the Pilgrims 6-2 down the stretch.

GOALTENDERS 
Senior William Platt picked up 15 stops in the contest, as the Pilgrims goalie, is now one of four active players in College Lacrosse to have 600 career saves. Tucker Anglemyer picked up a pair of stops in five minutes of action. For Curry, Josh Teller had 6 stops, Mike Collins had two in just over five minutes of play.
