MCMINNVILLE, Oregon—The New England College women's lacrosse team earned their first win of the 2019 season after downing Linfield College, 17-9.
With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 1-0 while the Wildcats fall to 0-1.
NEC LEADERS
Tara Bainbridge tallied 10 goals and added an assist for 11 points. Alana Scott, Giuliana Kevlin, Lauren Rich, and Meghan Oliver all added goals in the contest. Tailor Chapin had one assist.
LINFIELD LEADERS
Gabriella Moe led the Wildcat offense with four goals. Bethany Shade and
Jenna Hessel found the back of the goal as well. Alex Jensen and Molly
Herrera had assists in the contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bainbridge opened up the scoring with two goals in 2:24 of the first
half. However, three straight goals by the Wildcats in just over six
minutes to take their only lead of the contest. Three more Bainbridge
goals in just under three minutes gave the Pilgrims a five goal lead.
Kevlin and Scott added tallies to extend the lead to four. The teams
traded goals to close out the half with the Pilgrims leading 8-5.
Bainbridge opened up the scoring in the second half just under a minute
and half in. Linfield responded to gap the to three but a spree of goals
by Rich, Kevlin, and two Bainbridge goals expanded the lead to seven.
The Pilgrims would score four more times to the WIildcats two to close
out the contest.
GOALTENDERS
Ashley Coughlin and McKenzie Gallasso
each played one half in the contest. Coughlin earned her first career
start and win making one save. Gallasso made two saves. Kylee Duey and
Epi Roldan-Rayo split time as well for the Wildcats. Each played one
half, combing for10 saves.
