Middlebury Men's Lacrosse Earns NESCAC Road Win at Conn. College

Middlebury outscored Connecticut College 7-3 in the second half, on its way to a 16-9 win over the Camels (1-2, 0-2) on Silfen Field. The Panthers (1-1, 1-1) return to action on Tuesday with another road contest, this one taking place at St. Lawrence.

Middlebury scored three goals in a 1:38 span midway through the first quarter for the early 3-0 lead. Defender Eric Jeremiah got things going with a shot from 15 yards out. Frank Cosolito scored from a similar spot, converting a feed from behind the net by A.J. Kucinski. Tyler Forbes netted the third goal of the run, ripping a shot into the back of the net from the left side.

Jordon Foster put Connecticut College on the board 25 seconds later, making it a 3-1 game. Forbes
answered for the Panthers with a pair of goals, including a low, hard shot from the left side, making it a 5-1 game with 55 seconds remaining in the quarter. The Camels closed the first quarter scoring when Sean Smith tallied a man-up goal with seven seconds remaining.

Jack Sheehan opened the second quarter with a goal from the right side just 55 seconds in, making it a 6-2 game. Connecticut College scored twice in 34 seconds, cutting the lead to 6-4 at the 12:19 mark. The Panthers ended the spurt when Forbes scored again, this time after a quick pass inside from Chase Goree just 21 seconds later.

The Camels answered before Nick Peterson scored and Cosolito drove and found Jack Gould on the right side for a 9-5 lead with 2:17 left in the first half. Conn.'s Patrick Linehan closed the first-half scoring, as the Panthers took a 9-6 lead into the break.

Middlebury dominated the third quarter, gaining a sizeable 13-6 lead after outscoring its opponent 4-0. The lead grew to 14-6 in the fourth quarter with a goal from Gould at the 9:52 mark. The Camels scored three of the next four tallies before Goree closed the scoring with 2:47 remaining, making it a 16-9 final.

Forbes continued his hot hand for Middlebury, scoring five goals after netting four in the season opener. Goree finished with two goals and four assists, while Gould and Peterson each scored twice.  Kucinski ended the game with three helpers, running his point streak to 35 games. Jeremiah and Peterson each caused three turnovers in the victory. Charles Midgley made 11 saves in 55 minutes, while Tyler Bass played the final five minutes in net.

Foster scored three times, while Smith and Linehan each found the back of the net twice for the Camels. Colin Smith made 10 saves in 55 minutes in the Connecticut College net, while Jameson Hill saw five minutes of action.
