Castleton outshot the Eagles 72-12 in the contest and went 4-for-5 on the man-up while winning 19-of-26 faceoffs to improve to 10-6 and 7-1 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Green Mountain caused four turnovers and picked up 13 ground balls in falling to 2-11 and 2-6 in conference play.
The Spartans had a balanced attack as six players had at least four points and 17 of their 22 goals were assisted. Taylor Swarter scored on his only shot while dishing off five assists, and Tom Pardew added four assists. Jason Sedell contributed three goals, two assists and seven ground balls while Peyton Faasse anchored the defense with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Nate Laymon led the Eagles with four shots, four ground balls and one caused turnover. Will Durant added five shots and a pair of caused turnovers. Arun Falk took the loss in netdespite making 11 saves.
Sam Frackleton opened the scoring at 7:52 and Nik Rancourt, Graeme Pike and Swarter added goals in the period for the 4-0 lead after one. Matt Levins, Ryan Stone and Louis Alhage added three more goals in the second for a 7-0 advantage at the half.
Castleton scored seven more times in the third quarter, including three man-up goals. In the fourth, the offense added eight more goals to secure the win.
Peter Latulippe earned the win as he stopped five shots in 30 minutes of action. Romello Lindsey came on and played 17:17 with two saves while Brandon Myron made one save in 12:43.
