Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-6 overall and 6-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will continue its stretch of five games in seven days when they host Rivier on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Johnson State drops to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference. The Badgers will host Green Mountain on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Sophomore Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) scored the first two goals of the game and the Chargers
never looked back. Colby-Sawyer outscored the Badgers 11-2 in the first half and 8-2 in the second.
Lavigne led all scorers with six goals and four assists. She added six draws and four caused turnovers. Molly Mulcahy (Nashua, N.H.) scored four times, while Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, N.H.) added three goals to move into 10th all-time with 115. Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, Maine) tallied two goals, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Seniors Becky Batchelder (Pepperell, Mass.) and Sarah Harlow (Putney, Vt.) scored their first goal of the season. Shannon Green (Canton, Mass.) and Carli Chiodo (Madbury, N.H.) had the other two Charger goals.
Johnson State's Nichole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) scored twice and collected five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Senior Jillian Lopez (Danbury, Conn.) and sophomore Shannon Rooney (Cambridge, Vt.) had one goal apiece.
Colby-Sawyer goalie Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) made eight saves to pick up her eighth win of the season and 19th of her career. Badger goalie Kaitlin Boucher (Barre, Vt.) also had eight saves.
