LOWELL, Mass. – The Dartmouth men’s lacrosse team dropped an incredibly close, aggressive game to UMass Lowell on Tuesday night, falling by a score of 11-10 at Cushing Field. The Big Green dipped to 1-11, while the River Hawks improved to 3-11.

Dartmouth took a 2-0 lead following goals by senior KC Beard and freshman Will Randell, but two UMass Lowell markers within a minute of each other tied the score at two-all at the end of the first.
Early in the second quarter, junior Wiley Osborne gave the lead back to the visitors, but four straight by the River Hawks made it 6-3 in their favor. Sophomore Jack Korzelius netted two in a two-minute span, separated by a UMass Lowell goal, to make it 7-5.

The River Hawks made it a three-goal game a minute into the third, but were held scoreless for
almost 10 minutes while Korzelius completed his hat trick and Osborne got his 20th of the season to get the Green within one (8-7).

Any time UMass Lowell would begin to pull away with another goal, Dartmouth would counter and, following one goal by the home team and one by sophomore Richie Loftus, the score was 9-8. Just 10 seconds after Loftus’ goal and with 3:35 to play in the third quarter, another River Hawk marker gave them a 10-8 lead heading into the fourth.

A Dartmouth face-off win resulted in Korzelius’ fourth of the contest and 15th of the year just 20 seconds into the fourth quarter and one by Loftus with 9:06 remaining tied the score at 10-10. That, however, did not last long, as UMass Lowell netted another goal a minute later to once again take the lead. Dartmouth would take six shots after that, but the home team was able to hold on to that edge.

The Big Green outshot the River Hawks, 39-26, and both teams went 12-for-24 at the X. Freshman Joe Balaban played the entirety of the game in net and had six saves.

On Saturday, April 23, the Green will play their final home game of 2016, hosting Penn at 1 p.m.
