JOHNSON, Vt. – Green Mountain College used four wins
in singles play and took the match with a decisive win in top flight
doubles to clinch a narrow 5-4 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Johnson State College in men's tennis action on Saturday.
The Eagles received a pair of wins from Connor Braden and Truman Cressey
as the duo paired in top flight doubles to oust their opponents, 8-0.
The pair continued their success in singles action with Braden besting
his adversary, 6-0, 6-0 in top flight singles and Cressey scoring a pair
of 6-1 set wins over his opponent in second flight singles.Andrew Woodman and Eric Wade battled through a long and trying match in number two doubles, eventually falling 9-7. The pair exacted revenge in their respective singles pairings, however, with Woodman securing a win in third flight singles with a 6-0, 6-4 victory and Wade winning in straight sets 7-6, 6-3.
Erin McAuliffe was upended in fifth flight singles action losing, 6-0, 6-0.
Green Mountain will return to the hardcourts tomorrow with a match against Lyndon scheduled for 1 p.m.
