Dartmouth Drops 7-3 Decision to Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – After leading Princeton for the entirety of the first half, the Dartmouth men’s lacrosse team fell to the Tigers by a score of 7-3 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Sherrer Field at Class of 1952 Stadium. The Big Green fell to 1-10 and 0-4 in Ivy League play, while the home team improved to 4-7 and 1-3.

The first half was very low scoring, as just three goals were netted during the opening 30 minutes, with all three being credited to Dartmouth. Sophomore Richie Loftus broke the scoreless draw with 6:45 to play in the first quarter following a pass from classmate Jack Korzelius, and fellow sophomore Evan Key followed that up with one of his own three minutes later.

A combined 12 shots and 15 minutes later, senior KC Beard made it 3-0 in favor of the visitors with

his fourth of the season with 3:55 to play in the second.

The Tigers got their first marker of the afternoon three and a half minutes into the quarter and, nine minutes later, Princeton had scored three more unanswered tallies to take a one-goal lead over Dartmouth heading into the fourth. 

With the home team sporting a 4-3 edge at the start of the final 15 minutes, Princeton went on to score three more times to take a 7-3 lead which would last until the end of the game. 

The Tigers outshot the Green, 33-22. Freshman Joe Balaban played the entire game and made nine saves, while Tyler Blaisdell picked up a victory with his 15 saves.

On Tuesday, April 19, Dartmouth will play its final non-conference game of 2016 against UMass Lowell.
