HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 9
lightweight rowing team hosted its first of five consecutive races on
the Connecticut River, taking on MIT and No. 5 Harvard in pursuit of the
Biglin Bowl on a beautiful Saturday in Hanover.
The Big Green were faced with good conditions and a very light tailwind that was consistent for all four races.
Dartmouth placed third in the third varsity 8+
(6:05.9), finishing behind Harvard’s fourth varsity (5:53.6) and third
varsity (5:48.2).
In the remaining two races, the Green finished
sandwiched between the Crimson and the Engineers. In the second
varsity, Dartmouth (5:54.3) left over seven seconds between it and MIT
(6:01.6) and came in behind Harvard (5:41.9). With the Biglin Bowl on
the line in the last event of the day, the first varsity, the Big Green
(5:40.0) completed the course less than two seconds behind the Crimson
(5:38.3). The Engineers were third (5:49.1).
On Sunday, Dartmouth will host Mercyhurst at 9
a.m. Spectators are reminded that they must park at Dartmouth’s Rugby
Clubhouse (9 Reservoir Road, Hanover, N.H.) and ride the shuttle to the
race viewing area. Neither parking nor drop-off is not permitted at the
viewing area.
